Installing neck bolts

Got a new way of doing something? Or maybe an old method that needs some clarification.

Installing neck bolts

Post by 56nortondomy » Mon Dec 23, 2024 4:55 pm

I’ve taken some photos of how I drill and install the neck bolts in my guitars, I hope I get them in order. I don’t use a jig my method is simple and I’ve used it on around 55 guitars with no problems. I will mention that when drilling the barrel nut holes in the tenon that it’s advisable to use a forstner bit. Sydney tools has 10mm bits and they’re not expensive. I put a little bit of colour on the end of the punch with a sharpie or texta it helps show the position. Wayne

Wayne thanks for the detailed description. I tend to use the GG technique but for a mandolin I have half finished I may well use barrel bolts as you describe.
