There seem to be people that eat the shell with the peanut still in there! That's why everything has to be written on the package.

I Think it was a packet of Airline Peanuts where I first saw the warning....."may contain traces of nuts". I was hoping for more than traces.

I work in the food industry, and while this is OTT, the nanny-state regulations are not that much less ridiculous.

A Dry Roasted Australian would possibly still contain traces of alcohol as well

Markus it doesn't count when you briefly duck out the shed and make a fly fishing rod, then proceed to catch a delicious trout from your hand carved canoe, package it (with the hand made vacuum sealing machine) and then take a zoomed out photo with your home made electron microscope....

Stu, I already was afraid you would say: the label says "contains peanuts"!

Dear friends, I am developing an allergy against stupid product labels which seem to get the norm, and finding non-labelled products gets more difficult every day. If this goes on I will be starving not far from now.

Re: Thank God I read the label!!
You guys have reminded me of a similar experience a couple of years ago in Woolies. They were selling herb seedlings & had a warning label on the back:
"Warning: Potting mix is not edible".
Kind of wished that I had taken a picture now.

I wouldn't be surprised. There was a survey and one of the questions was what was white bread made from. More than 50% didn't know it was made from wheat.

desperate & deeply depressed,
Ignore any labeling at point of sale (shop blindfolded if it helps) & simply remove any labeling from tins prior to storing in pantry. This not only reduces the chances of your allergy flaring up & your stomach resembling that of an anorexic supermodel, but also turns mealtime in to "funtime" as you try & guess what each tin stacked neatly in that pantry contains, imagine the hours of fun you and your family will have when that tin, of what you thought were baked beans & had planned to have on that piece of hot toast, turns out to really be a tin of Italian Black Olives.
Not only that but wash those tins out after use, attach a piece of string & turn them into a handy communications system.

yours,
Aunty Nick.

If you think potting mix tastes bad you should let me cook dinner for you one night.Steve wrote:You guys have reminded me of a similar experience a couple of years ago in Woolies. They were selling herb seedlings & had a warning label on the back:

Re: Thank God I read the label!!
Thanks for your advice Nick. I knew that at least someone of this great forum would try to help for getting me out of this labelling crisis.

Shocking, very shocking!Nick wrote:*Warning- The advice posted above may contain minute traces of humour*
