Hi guys / gals / others,
Check this puppy out http://guitar-lute.narod.ru/eng.htm There is a lot to like about this instrument particularly the retro renaissance look. But there is a question, how are the strings affixed to the bottom of the instrument?

Hi Sebastiaan,
Indeed that's a fine instrument! I would say at a guess that the strings have looped ends and the bridge setup would be similar to what many mandolin use!
I'm no expert so someone else on the forum may have more experience with these instruments and be able to advise better.
Cheers
Alan

In the classical mandolin world these are very highly thought of. The Emberghers are generally considered right at the top of the pile of bowlback mandolins. These are a mandocello with an extra high course, tuned CGdae, or looking at at another way, an octave mandolin with an extra low course
The tailpiece would be a metal plate with pins for the loop ends.
cheers

Does that mean that there are loop ends tied into the nylon(?) strings, there is a big dag hanging off the low string
edit, Ive just been looking up Embergher and found the answer, see http://www.embergher.com/index.php?id=64 about a quarter of the way down the page. Looks like a design to copy for a Mandocello...... given all the dimensions are on that webpage
