Slow progress on the neoclassical
Slow progress on the neoclassical
Domestic chores of late have kept me away from the workshop. During the odd hours Ive managed to assign to my building Ive managed to get the french polishing finished on the the neo classical. Once the hard shellac has fully cured the bridge will go on and planetary pegs will get installed. The headstock looks a bit rough....a few pores still showing so have had to do a bit more pore filling on same.

That's going to look nice Martin.
Indian Rosewood? BOBO? Falcate?
Who did you buy your pegs from? I love the idea but they are so expensive.
Cheers Dave

That's looking really good!
Re: Slow progress on the neoclassical
Bridge finally glued on. The original bridge failed on this guitar and I ended up having to replace the top. I manage to jam 9 clamps through the soundhole. After the photos were taken I managed to squeeze one more clamp in to make it an even 10

That's a lot of clamps Martin. Should be a full life time bridge glue job. Great work!

Is it just me or do you seem to end up retopping rather a lot?
Is it that you are now so good at it that it's not a bother, or do you just like the hurt!!!

Oh and you could just remind us of your methodology for doing it if you have some pics.

Well, if that bridge fails it won’t be for lack of clamps.

Looking good. Might be time to invest in a vacuum clamp Martin

There's actually a full vacuum kit sitting in a box under my bench.....was part of a group buy years ago. I havent yet got around to setting it up.
