First time poster here.. I'm attempting a Tele style neck and I've stuffed up!
So I'm hoping the more experienced on here could offer their advice....I was ironing out some small dents with a damp rag (which was successful), but it looks like I've also leeched some tannin across the grain with the iron? I have increased the contrast to better show the lines.
I was going to attempt to remove this with some oxalic acid or similar, but am I making it worse? I tried sanding out, but it hasn't budged.
Any ideas?
How to remove these marks?
Re: How to remove these marks?
What sort of wood is it? You could try oxalic acid. If it was me........I'd leave it. The stains don't look too bad to me and it's on the back of the neck.

Could also stain the whole neck with some brown dye, might disguise it a bit. But like Martin said it's not that bad. Wayne

It’s rock maple. I might give the acid a go to trial it. Just wasn’t sure if it would bleach the wood too much. Thanks
Re: How to remove these marks?
I'd probably bleach it and the add some tint to the lacquer to add a little color back, or possible stain the neck if you're finishing from rattle cans.
Re: How to remove these marks?
I was going to give it a light tint anyway, so I'll also look into bleach as an alternative to acid. Thanks

Not a fan of flat sawn wood being used for a neck, is there a specific reason you went that route
