Twisted
Re: Twisted
Unless there is enough material left to straighten it out.....And then let it rest for some time to see if it's then stable I'd be tossing it in the bin.
Re: Twisted
Like Allen says. Restraighten if possible. I'd then leave t for a few weeks and check for any further movement.
What was the history of the blank prior to working on same?

Re: Twisted
Thanks Gents,
I was in Carbatec one day and found it there, dressed. I was quite surprised and it was cheap. Thicknessed and rough shape and truss rod route and then left for a week or 2 before I had time to glue on FB, then noticed twist.
Weather has changed significantly in Perth the last couple of weeks...

Re: Twisted
Ok.....the fact the wood was probably sitting in Carbatec for any length of time under unknown humidity conditions could be a factor.

Re: Twisted
Cheers Martin, yes and we had a very wet winter.
Should I try adding moisture before clamping?

Re: Twisted
No. I'd let it acclimatize to your workshop humidity and then work it straight. I'd say that most of the movement has already occurred between time it was sitting at Carbatec and time you discovered the twist

Re: Twisted
You could try to twist it back, or you could plane it flat.
Interestingly, there was a recent thread at the OLF discussing the idea of intentionally producing a twist just like yours to make a more ergonomic neck for the players hand. Check it out here:
