Rejigged Workshop
Rejigged Workshop
For the last 18 months the workshop has been packed up during a new house build. Myself and the good wife lived in our garage and the workshop during the build as a cost saving measure. Now that the house is finished Ive been busy getting the workshop back up and running. A temporary bathroom was set up in the garage and this is now a wood store. The cabinet work from the kitchen in the old house has been turned into a large work bench in the main shop.

The re-setup of your workshop Martin looks great. I also like your wood storage room.

Re: Rejigged Workshop
Looking good Martin. I like the separate rooms for the dusty, noisy machines and the clean work. And the store room separate again - that is ideal. The main work room has great natural light, I am very jealous of that. Do you plan to build a go bar deck over one of those benches? Are you trying to manage RH in the whole space, or only in the workroom?
Re: Rejigged Workshop
The go bar deck can go on either the large bench or the smaller bench. In the old shop this is where I did most of my work. I had a dehumidifier running in the main shop when I first built it but found that with the insulation and door/window seals I didn't really need it. The wood store is well insulated and if necessary Ill pop a small heater in there during the winter months to keep humidity down.Mark McLean wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 9:35 amThe main work room has great natural light, I am very jealous of that. LOL.....beer intake has been cut drastically for health reasons of late. The new house has a huge pantry so all the booze is kept there.

Congrats on finishing the house and putting your shop back together. That is a serious stash of wood. That should keep you busy for quite a while. Thanks for the shot of your library. I saw a few books I might go looking for.
What's your first new build going to be?

Re: Rejigged Workshop
Hi Lillian, the first build? Ive got 3 half finished guitars and a lute that needs a nut and stringing up. Theres a Gore OM, a classical and a parlour guitar and the Gerber lute. Need to finish those first and then move onto some new builds.

Re: Rejigged Workshop
I remember your lute. I was totally blown away by the rosette. I saw it sitting on the bench, but thought you were done with it.
Re: Rejigged Workshop
A multiscale OM commission build took precedence over the lute and I never quite got back to finishing the lute.
