Yep, that's what I'm talking about. Small minds run in the same rut, eh?
What first got me thinking about this was a concert at the GAL in 2006.
It was a serious affair, where the new Violin family of instruments (eight different fiddles, not the usual four) were being displayed. From wee small to incredibly huge, with more instruments inbetween to fill up more of the gaps. The concert was fantastic, by the way.
And there at the convention is Duane Heilman with his hilarious Spamolin, a dulcimer made from a Spam can. (Don't know what they call that mystery meat down under...) So we got to thinking about a Spamolin family of instruments, made from different sized cans, and well, you get the idea.
I like your uke. Why not get the giant economy-sized box and attempt a bass?

There are some great woods, down under!
