Any forms needed other than the commercial invoice (3 copies) when sending an instrument from Oz to NZ?

You will need a Customs declaration to get it through the NZ Border.

Just the usual description of; Processed, Treated Timber, no Insect Infestation, Bark, or Knot Inclusions ... about it really, apart from CITES if it applies.

Ta. What does that look like? Is there a serial number for the form? There was nothing like that when I booked it in with Interparcel.

Timely discussion here for me.
I have sold a concert Ukulele made from Oz Sassafrass, Indian rosewood fingerboard and Queensland Maple neck and I have to post it to NZ.
The instrument has been shellac finished and I will need to pack it well. So I don't want Customs opening the package as it won't go back as it was and may get damaged on the trip over. Can you approach Customs and ask what is the procedure. It is the Indian Rosewood fingerboard that concerns me.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

The quarantine service will more than likely want to look inside it to ensure none of your aussie creepy crawlies have hitched a ride.
Have you considered buying a uke case to freight it in?

Thanks Andos that looks like the way to go. I was considering making a 3mm ply rectangular box for the Ukulele and use bubble wrap but the hard case is the way to go. When you say freight it in which company would you suggest?

On the freight company I cant help you. But put lots of fragile stickers on it.
