I ended up cutting mine with a chisel as normal, then put on a 120 grit disk on my belt, disk sander and then just rotated the disk by rolling the belt by hand. Touching up the miter carefully with my one free hand. Sounds more complicated than it actually is.

Makes me think that to do this you might need three hands....oh never mind. Your from Tassie. Two heads, three arms...your all set.

Bob, that's a lovely little box there.
The ebony bindings are a great choice.
My helper Ryan got a set of that Gum from Tim, and he'll be pleased to see how nicely yours is coming along.
Will you use hard shellac over the zpoxy?

I got some pictures off my phone of the bracing Allen.

Stolen unashamedley from Kim Hickey, in fact he suggested it.

The braces ended up much, much smaller than you see in the photo.

Jack - I think E.delegtensis, E.regnans and E.obliqua are all very similar and are sold as Vic Ash or Tas Oak. In fact they're pretty well indistinguishable once they're not a complete tree. But it's a very nice wood to work with and has the tonal qualities that would appear to make a nice instrument.

Steve - We've stopped using the Hard Shellac and are now using a locally made pre-cat lacquer. There were some issues with crazing with it. The formula has been changed to add a plasticising agent but we had a gallon
of the pre-cat in the shed so we decided to use it. And were pretty happy with the results.

How did you decide on how to voice the top? Just keep shaving spruce until you were afraid to take any more off?

Just flex and tap.

Listening for sustain in the tap tone over the lower bout.

I really like the end graft too - very eloquent. And the flame on that zoot is going to look very cool too.
