StewMax Membership and Free Shipping
StewMax Membership and Free Shipping
I just go a notice as an email. Perhaps because I have a luthiers account that gives me big discounts on regular prices. Don't know if the general public will get this offer. But here is the link and a heads up.

Re: StewMax Membership and Free Shipping
i got the same. although already a stewmax member, so the only change is free (slow) shipping.
Re: StewMax Membership and Free Shipping
I joined about two months ago. It's paid for itself twice over in free shipping and the discounted books and media.
The free shipping is slow for me as well. It takes it at least a week to go from Ohio to PNW. But the discounted price for two day shipping is more than reasonable. It's what I would have spent for shipping anyway.

For us in the UK the issue isn’t shipping costs it import taxes. Customs duty gets applied to the value of the goods 12%, then Value Added Tax 20% gets added to the value of everything including delivery and customs charges.
Typically items cost 30-40% more than the price paid on the site. I go to many lengths to source from elsewhere or make my own.

I'm going on my second year with it now. It pays for itself fast. This year I have not taken much advantage of it but if you plan on ordering even 3 or 4 times a year it at least pays for itself and then if you forgot to order that jack plate or something you just order it and don't worry about it.

Re: StewMax Membership and Free Shipping
Haven't been around the Luthier Forums (Fora ?) for a year or so as I don't have a workshop any more, so I'm a bit out of touch.
But I noticed recently that Madinter in Spain are selling quite a lot of Stewmac stuff.
I haven't compared prices, so I don't know if it would be cheaper ordering from them, not having to pay customs duty, and of course that will only last until Bojob takes you out of the EU.

Excellent find, thanks very much for posting this Dave. Four happy shopping months left. Sad shopping months to follow thereafter.

I am also into my second year of this. Pays for itself quickly, but the free shipping is slow, very slow now.

I do the flat rate expedited option for ~$30 on every order now.
This way most orders arrive within a week (even in the current climate).

A week to get stuff from the US to Australia.....while good old Aussie Post takes a couple of weeks to get stuff across the country.

Re Australia post: I just sent a hand made wooden spoon to my daughter: $8.50! Plus one jar of marmalaide (I shouldn't have mentioned to her that I had made some, as my other kids wanted one each as well :$12.50 each!A week to get stuff from the US to Australia.....while good old Aussie Post takes a couple of weeks to get stuff across the country.
Aust post has recorded a record profit lately but IMOP needs to charge less in order to help our economy. ENOUGH!!!!
