For anyone that's interested, Timbercon has wooden cam clamps on sale again. I got 8 last time around and they turned out to be a great investment for the price.

Wooden Camp Clamps on Special
I bought some of these last time they had a special on them.
I may have got a bad batch . I had to relocate the top pin ( the ones that catch on the bar ) , so the jaws could be some where near parallel. They wouldn't have worked otherwise.
I also replaced the poor cork pads on the jaws. My other clamps have aluminium bars ,whereas these have steel bars and are quite heavy . Too heavy in my opinion, so I chopped the bars down to 9 inch ( about all the length required ) to save a bit of weight. I left one full length as it may be handy in a given situation.
Still good value in the long run I suppose if you don't mind doing a few mods.
Cam clamps are time consuming to make !!
