London luthier

Post by rocket » Wed Jan 31, 2018 6:28 pm

I’d be grateful for any help here.
A few years back I sold a guitar that has ended up in London and the owners are interested in having a pickup fitted and have asked my advice which I have given and part of that was to seek a reputable luthier to carry out any works and offered to make some enquiries on their behalf.
So if any members on here are able to offer some assistance or would’ve appreciated.

Cheers

Rod

G'day Rod

Get in touch with these blokes

https://www.luckyfret.com/

They were originally called the Vintage Guitar Boutique and I bough an Gretsch resonator from them about four years ago. They're not luthiers but given the fact that they had lots of vintage Martins and Gibsons as well as heaps of early Fenders I reckon they'd be fairly well placed to recommend someone who would be able to fit a pickup.

They are in Shoreditch, East London. I stayed in a place just across the road from them. Nice blokes, very friendly and helpful.

Other than that see if you can track down Dave White. He's a member here but doesn't visit that often. He does live a fair way north of London but he may have some contacts.

Regards
Bob, Geelong

Rod

This UK based forum has several luthiers as members, although most of the regular posters are players/performers with a keen interest in acoustic guitars and other acoustic instruments. There is a lot of discussion about good builders and repairers, so I think you'd get useful answers to any query you posted.
