Col Finley special guitar
Col Finley special guitar
I finished this recently.
I built this for Aussie Country music artist Col Finley.
He is celebrating his 25th year as an Independent artist. Those who purchase his pre order for new CD go into the draw to win this guitar.
Soundboard; Sitka Spruce
Back and side; Unknown. I was told it was Blackwood but in working it I don`t feel it is.
Fingerboard and bridge; Ebony
Neck;QLD Maple
Binding;Blackbean
Tuners; Gotoh
Strings: Elixir Phosphure Bronze
Laser etched logo on sound board
Oil finish

Re: Col Finley special guitar
Cool. Nice prize for someone.
For what it's worth, it looks like Blackwood to me. I've handled plenty of material I know to be Blackwood that has looked just like that.
It is a highly variable timber.
Cheers,
Jeremy.

Thanks Jeremy.
The guy I got it from was sure it was Blackwood. I had to really over bend to get to shape so just behaved different to what i've felt before. I guess it could have a lot to do with the environment it's grown in. Its a gorgeous piece of timber. Wish I had more of this board.
Thanks
Ross
Thanks Jeremy.
We were after an aged look. I was originally going to do a satin finish but ended up going oil and must say absolutely suites the brief to what Col was chasing.
Cheers Ross
