Maple and Spruce archtop

Hi all,, another topic in here asks haow long it takes to build an acoustic guitar, well i might just win the prize for taking the longest time ever!! :lol: :lol: . I started this build over three years ago, then the build was interrupted by a house move, and several commission builds and a few spec builds, anyways i'm back onto it now.
Of course solid carved plates, the back in flamed maple and the top in European spruce, the laminated maple sides have solid linings, the X braced top will have K+K twin spot internal fitted, figured maple lam neck ebony board and headstock, and some pics for your enjoyment :D

finally finished this one, the finish was a real pain in the neck, but i got there in the end..
Satin finish with K+K twin spot as well as Kent Armstrong cusp. bucket.

That turned out great!

What's the difference between the twin spot and a pure mini? I've only ever used the mini.

I like the finish :) need more I was thinking semi gloss still highlights the best in the grain I think.

Only ever used twin spot, never used pure mini but I think it may be designed for ukes maybe??

Will be first archtop if I can ever get off high center and stop reading and start building. Been trying to fill in the blanks of the Benedetto book here and elsewhere.

Again, thanks for showing yours. I learned some new things and the pics help a lot.

There are a few blanks in Bobs book Jon but still, compared to some other instructional texts I've read lately it's the better!!

beautiful piece of work Rod. I bet it sounds as good as it looks. BTW the mirotone satin looks perfect. That stuff has such a silky sensual feel to the hand and gives the timbers a rich glow that full gloss often detracts from.

Hi Rod,
I like your "Octigan" headstock inlay; do you cut them yourself or send off for them? If so where?
My wife reckons they look much better than the ones I cut (I agree) and our graphic designer daughter can design a new logo for me.
