Most recent build
Started this one yesterday. A mate has been threatening to build himself a cigar box guitar for too long now and never gets to it. He's a bit of a Harley man and this tin had been kicking around home for a few years after we received it as a gift, there was some sort of lollies in it so I guess that makes this a lolly tin guitar (finally found a use for a hot melt glue gun on a guitar).
It is playable now but will beef it up with a $7 hot rail humbucker when it arrives from China (I bought two in case one don't work) so the mate can lift his shed roof off. I haven't seen him for years as he lives down south so I reckon he'll get a bit of a buzz when he finds a mysterious package in the mail.

Ammmm, your point is what Frank? I am surprised you didn't ask for a spectrum graph, now that would have been good humour.
The worst thing about this build it that since I strung it up yesterday (and ducked up the shop to get a glass slide as I have never owned one) I have done little else but play the thing, can't seem to put it down. As my mate is a bit of a beginner I marked the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 12th frets in pencil so he will have a rough idea of where to go. I will include the slide in the gift so he doesn't have to just admire the fine craftsmanship but will be able to tinker with it straight away so he will see the amount of effort I have put into getting the long dipole just right so that it will record with out any comb filtering problems, he understands comb filtering as he has been bald since his early twenties.(he lives in the bush and might have to mail order a slide which would be a long wait).
I'd type more but need to play more lap slide.

I'd be a terrible teacher. Mine is a 7-string made of spare parts many years ago, and I tune it straight like a guitar, no open tuning.DarwinStrings wrote:I have only played a lap slide since yesterday Frank do you do any online lessons?
Besides, what's to teach? If the note is flat, keep going. If it's sharp, then you went too far! When in doubt, vibrato it out!!!

After a all nighter in the recording studio and many hours mixing and re mixing My team of sound engineers came up with this sample in the cloud from the lolly tin guitar.
