Retiring My Seagull:- how to store and protect it.

I have a nice Seagul Acoustic guitar. It's got a great sound nice pickup and I enjoy it. As its my only guitar I have. I use it in church, busking, and anywhere else I am playing. Sadly it has come time to retire this beauty as my main axe. But it will be kept in its hard case, with a M.U.D. (Multi Utility Desiccant) moisture absorber, and lovingly be palyed at home, or an occasional performance, from time to time. Here are some images of this beauty.

I also recently I had to get a small hairline crack, I noticed when cleanin, fixed. What I am now wanting for know is what I can do to protect this guitar
I live in an older house with somwhat gappy windows etc. Apart from keeping it in its case and using M.U.D. as mentioned above, what else should I be doing.

1. Are desiccant products like MUD a good thing to use?
2. Is storing it in a hard case in a culboard good idea?
3. Are there any other products I should consider using?

I would appreciate any ideas tips and tricks you would have on this.

After thinking about this some more I am not going to fully retire this Seagul. I will use it in church and take to other p,aces I play.I still want to know how to care and protect it. I will be getting a 2nd guitar to take busking and travelling with.

Whereabouts are you mickey (climate wise)
First thing would be to get a Hygrometer to measure the RH inside your house.
Unless you are at really extreme humidity conditions don't bother with a dessicant
