Setting that pesky plane blade.

Just ordered one of these and I am in no way endorsing them! Just thought for the price, they might be a handy addition to the shed for any other forum members who, like me (self taught!), takes forever setting up a plane to cut properly

Especially like the fact that you can 'dial in' your depth of cut as well as set the blade up dead parallel (although the tried and true eyeball method has proven itself over many centuries).
They may well be crap but will report back if they are!

If you're like me and use plane blades that have a slight curve worked into the cutting edge this gauge wont work too well.

You could always use it to measure u'r dick Marty..

Looks interesting Nick, it may save a few of us from having to reach for that second set of reading glasses so often..

Would never work...the scale doesn't appear to be able to read in whole metres

Nice one Nick . I know a fella who may like to see that .

That could be interesting to play with and figure out the radius of a curve to a plane blade.
Like the video says , good for lateral adjustment.
When jointing ,
I usually set it to what I think is right , retract the blade then wind it back down and watch the first shavings it takes before it takes the full width , and then correct it if its out. It works this way but that would be a nice thing to have a play with and see as well .
