My first hand-made rosette

Pretty stoked with this, my first hand-made rosette

The wood consists of ebonized pear wood, mahogany and Alaskan yellow cedar. The burl is a .5mm mahogany veneer on on a substrate.

The herringbone was lots of fun to make, and although I made some wheat that was supposed to run through the middle of the burl, I liked the burl so much that I decided to leave it out.

True to form I almost ruined this when I forgot to tighten the rosette cutter on one of the passes. Luckily I noticed the router bit drifting and I was able to fix it.

I agree with you, leaving the center as is. Running the extra might have been overkill, whereas right now its classy

very nice. I also like the burl ring and the cleaner look of not running the marquetry strip through the middle of the burl. It is so nicely framed by the thin dark purfling line.
