More DIY guitar work...

This customer said he drove all the way from Mt Isa 700km to deliver this guitar for repair.
His relative had put a sound port in the wrong place
or.... the termites are big in Queensland
or.... who threw that can?
or.... who put the ceiling fan so low That's the real story.

Lots of ways to repair, the question would be what end result is the customer after

Kind of looks like the cheaper yamaha line, maybe an economical repair is not worth pursuing

All good replies guy's, I thought this would be another lighthearted post.
I've already started the repair so the splintered pieces of plywood have been removed. The guitar is a brand new Yamaha [well spotted] 12 string, hardly played. As it was a gift from the owners daughter its got to be repaired. All good.

I know my guitars, or better yet, I know guitars that always need repair work .

The laminated sides are a real bastard on these apx's, for smaller holes, I have patched them and then used the gun to make it look like a knott in the wood.

It will be an interesting one to do. But they are not an expensive guitar, they run between 200-500 retail dollars dependant if someone is having a sale or not

So this guy drove 700km to drop it in. Then 700 km back. Then assume he picks it up, so that's all up a total of 2800km, or about $420 in petrol. Then the cost of repair, respray, cut and buff. No change out of $200 for a "quickie" or a lot more for a less visible fix. Let's call that $700 just for a round number. A replacement is looking cheap, and I'm sure if he didn't tell his daughter she wouldn't know...

Am I being too rational, here?

Ceiling fan? Was he in the leprechaun camp? Let's work this back....Taff posts on the 4th, a day for the drive = 3rd, a day to figure out what to do = 2nd, "accident" happened on the 1st. Golly gosh!

Hey Trevor, Lets talk Queensland time. I gets phone call on Monday 31st saying "will be there" Tuesday 1st..........arrives Friday 4th, this may have even been a Christmas present counting back on that scale.

It took far quicker to repair than the drive from the Isa, but not finished yet, I'm moving on to more important things now.
