Resawing in Brisbane

Post by Mat » Fri Apr 04, 2014 11:10 pm

G'day blokes,

First time post but long time lurker. I enjoy looking through this website on a daily basis and recon the people who contribute here are unbelievable. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands and mind into making guitars soon.

I have a chainsaw mill set up which I cut logs/species of interest with and was wondering if anyone in Brisbane would be interested in helping me out by resawing a bit of mango for back and sides? I've got enough for say 40ish+ back and sides. It does not look like it's going to be figured but looks nice none the less. Only want a few cut so I can season it, the other bits will be put to the side for some tele bodies I will start to make...soon. I also have a large stash of bunya that would be interesting to look at along with some silky oak, huon pine, red cedar, euro walnut.

If you could point me in the right direction that would be sweet.

Hi Mat,

If your willing to drive to the gold coast Mal at wood world is a really great guy and he would machine it for you. I believe he charges $45 an hour for machining.

Thanks Jeremy. I'll keep that in mind once I finish cutting the logs.
