Re: A Coombe Mandolin spotted on the TV
Yes I saw that. Chloe bought that mandolin second hand just over 12 months ago. I had been trying to tempt her for many years, and had long given up, then blow me down if I did not get an email out of the blue from her saying she has bought it. Apparently unbeknown to me she had been lusting after one of my mandolins almost as long as I had been trying to tempt her. The mandolin was originally bought by a pommy bloke who returned to England and left some of his instruments behind in Australia. It is made from Carpathian Spruce and Tassie Oak, and is a really nice sounding mandolin. I had it at Port Fairy and the National FF a few years ago, but it was kept under the bench reserved for the better players who could appreciate it. Tassie Oak works really well in mandolins, as you can hear in the video.
