Ah, yes. In the video I'm using an old neck that I screwed up as a clamping caul, I've since made new ones in various scale lengths. They have two large holes drilled in them so it can be clamped down over locating pins that I use (fancy term for nails) when gluing down fingerboards and the holes allow me to pull out the nail with pointy nose pliers while the glue is still wet but after clamp up so the board doesn't wriggle around on me. The holes I drill for the nail is in two of the fret slots, so the crown of the fret hides the hole after the guitar is fretted and it's never seen. The hole is only a couple mm deep so I don't carve back to the hole when doing the neck profile, but its plenty enough to stop the board moving which is very helpful as before I worked out this trick gluing down fingerboards was one hell of a process! It didn't always stay where I wanted. This way I dry clamp, sort out the locator pins while there's no glue, then apply the slippery stuff!sprocket wrote:Hey , sorry , it was on the end of Video 2 & @ the begining of vid 3 of this thread , the other jig s cool also .

Thanx for the explinations mate , like this way of gluing , it wont move .
Lots of tips in this thread as well . Fret scale s also great , I never built a instrument but I find some great tips in here . Maybe one day .
Love RG-derived guitars , even if I m a bassist , Kalhers Tremolos seem to be a fav of yours also , I will have to check these , I remember that I swapped stuff years ago with a custom guitar that had a Kahler FR on it , it was great , but it s been like 25 years back ! times go fast ! .

I haven't had much guitar updates over the last few weeks as I've been flat out, building this!
It's a CNC room. Insulated with "Earth Wool", the room measures 6m X3m and will house the machine that I hope will take "Searls Guitars" in a whole new direction of excellence.
