I was given this today, any ideas, great tap tone even in those two boards which are 850 x 125 x 25.

The piece on the left definitely looks like Honduran Rosewood.

Nice work guys, it says Brazilian Rosewood on the invoice. Was brought into Aust in 1968. One is backsawn so will go to the sides and the other rolls off the quarter but with a four piece back out of that one I should get a almostish mainly quartersawn back. Should have seen the grin on my face when I was offered it for free

That would be a fair description of the smell Bob, the smell also matches the smell of the old BRW Washburn I have.

Hope so John my cheeks are aching.

New bandsaw blades arrived today so I hooked into this to see what I could come up with. A bit dodgy but as I doubt I ever would have bought any of this I will be quite happy with it for a personal guitar, I still have one Braz mahogany neck left from years ago so will pair them for that traditional guitar, think I have a bit of Adi here too somewhere. Once I wet the back down it looks fine.

I am happy with what I got out of this for a back, I have managed to get a pic that looks like what it looks like to me in the shed. None of our four legged friends were harmed during the making of this back and sides set or even a three legged corner piece.

Jim....I guess you are referring to my practice of using furniture for their body parts....let me assure I you that for the furniture in question euthanasia was the kindest thing I could have done....
