Import VA TXT file to Excel
Dumb question. How do you import VA text files to Excell? I can get the file to open in Excel and get each line of data in a separate row, but I get both the frequency and the amplitude in one column, so I can't plot them.

I use open office, but I believe in Exel should be something similar.Craig Bumgarner wrote:Dumb question. How do you import VA text files to Excell? 1. Export from VA as Text.
2. In libreOffice Choose File - Open and click the file to import.
3. Select "Text CSV" from the File type combo box. Click Open.
4. The Text Import dialog appears. Check "separated by" and "space"
5. Click OK.
The numbers VA text will open in two columns. Now you can plot the data in a chart.

Thanks, that works. It is a bit different in Excel 2007, but same idea: Go to the DATA tab, GET EXTERNAL DATA, TEXT, FROM TEXT, (select file to import), DELIMITED, by SPACE.

Re: Import VA TXT file to Excel
For future reference. The chart type needs to be a SCATTER chart, not a LINE chart. Scatter chart allows values to be used for both the X and Y axis. Line allows values only on the Y axis, the X axis units are just the row number. Scatter charts can be format as points, connected points or "smooth line". A smooth line scatter chart (not to be confused with a LINE chart) will look similar to VA graphs. Multiple guitars can be thrown on one graph by right clicking on the plot and then clicking SELECT DATA -> ADD.
