Highfield Ukulele Workshop
Here are a few images from the workshop I ran in early October at Highfield. It was a little cold but we all worked hard for five days and came out the other end with an instrument in hand!

Only at one of Tim's courses could a student get to build with Tiger Myrtle on their very first Uke! Good looking bunch of Ukes Tim.

Re: Highfield Ukulele Workshop
Seems like everybody managed to make a really nice ukulele!
Only Mr. Spittle's ukulele looks like a dog.
Great job Tim. How does it feel to let make 5 instruments at once? I mean... how long did it take you to prepare everything?
Cheers,

You did good, Tim. Just goes to show you can't have too many clamps; or jigs.
Five new Uke makers on the scene ... Gotta be good

Re: Highfield Ukulele Workshop
Thanks guys for the comments.
Preparation of jigs, logistics and setup took about a week. However now that the kit is there it is only the wood and consumables that need processing and sending. I think I successfully enabled all the people at the workshop to achieve success by minimising the drama of side bending using the thermal blankets, a specific mould for side/endblock/kerfing, references holes for alignment and a pressure plate to achieve a good glue line between the top, sides and the bottom. In cool temperatures a curing times for epoxy (neck joint) curing and Minwax drying time were a concern and next time I will setup a heater cabinet for temp control. MIcromesh was brilliant is achieve a good fretwire finish.

Well done Tim, all the lads look very proud of themselves in the photo and rightly so to. Not only do they now own a ubeat uke built with their own hands, but thanks to your course they've discovered a new craft and have been gifted with the confidence to tackle it head-on in their own shed...today a uke......tomorrow a bass..
