It's been quite a while since I posted anything, so let me rectify that.
Jim S. suggested I might enjoy getting banned from the forum again, and that sounded like fun.
So here is my latest effort--now give it your best southern hemispherical blasting!

It would make us all feel so much better if you told us it sounded like crap.
Sadly for us, it probably sounds just as good as it looks. Amazing.
Any chances of a sound file?

That looks like a pretty decent guitar, Steve. Too bad you only had this horribly wrinkled Australian weed wood at hand, and that the top is so scratched (you should have a close look at your wood stash, maybe there is a bear hiding between the stickered tops, ruining all your precious wood with his claws).

Hi Steve,

Not much to say other than a true craftsman working with some very special materials.

Thanks for sharing with us.

Ooh, Martin, you ARE upset. Guess I'll just take my seat and try to behave.
And many thanks you guys for the kind words.
Should identify the list of ingredients:
Top--Bearclaw Sitka
B&S--curly Mango
Rosette--Mango w/ Paua shell (ever hear of that?)
Bindings--Bocote
Neck--Mahogany w/ thin Bocote stripe
Bridge--Brazilian rosewood

The inlay was done by Craig Lavin, at the customer's request.

Thanks again, but it seems you're being eerily polite....
Where's the eviction? Dismemberment? Amputation? C'mon!

I reckon the ANZLF's secret service will do its best to cut off your bling wood supply! (But they would never admit, or it would no longer be secret).
I truly hope they won't succeed though. 8)

Steve what a stunning looking guitar :)

Not only do I think you should be banned but I think you also should be flogged to within an inch of your life for showing that guitar!

Here's to a good dam thrashing sir!

Seems only fitting really,
Image

As Marcus pointed out, I think it could do with a good iron, the back and sides are all wrinkly and that top!.....couldn't you find a better bit without all them scratches in it?
Very nice Steve, absolutely love the timbers. Not into the extra "adornments" on the fingerboard or Paua bits (I'm a Kiwi and think "ashtray" everytime I see Paua) but that doesn't stop me appreciating the craftsmanship. You've done those two trees (The Mango & Spruce) justice.
Just looking through the soundhole in that scratched top, the Mango is much lighter on the inside, almost Maple colour! Is this the colour of unfinished Mango or is there something a little extra going on in there? (forgive my ignorance but I've never used or even seen Mango in the flesh  )

Top job Steve,
How about some close ups of the inlays? Is that a gator on the head?

Nick, I didn't realize you had a copy of that pic.
Please overlook the girlish grimace, but I do think the pic shows my torso to good advantage.
And the entire ANZLF crew lined up to inflict pain. Everybody recognize themselves?

Ok, ok, something about the inlay:
The owner lives in South Florida, and his next door neighbor...
Anyway, he thought this up, and asked Craig Lavin to do this inlay. Indeed, it is an alligator, and frets 4-8 show her hatchlings.

OK, enough, my eyes hurt. Beautiful, but yes they hurt....

Will this instrument actually get played or will it grace the den of some rich person? to be dragged out to impress some worthless plebian who needs to be put in their place?

Truly fabby!

Thanks Sebastiaan, appreciate the kind word.
And apologies for the eye strain.
I hope this guitar gets played, instead of being hung on the wall!

Stephen, amazing looking guitar, and especially the top.

I've never seen bear claw figure like that: did the top feel 'normal' in stiffness when you were setting it up? It looks so different from conventional sitka.

Thanks Kym. As I recall, and memory will have to do as the stats aren't in front of me, this was not an exceptional piece as regards stiffness. Dana Bougeoise (sp?) feels that the ripple in bearclaw adds to lateral stiffness, but I never test for that. Possibly it does, but this piece seemed rather average in regards to stiffness to weight. But I just couldn't pass up figure like that...
