How does it compare to Coopers Stout? I just noticed it's double choc. ?

Will have to show this one to my partner, when we met she drank Guinness with a dash of black currant cordial and I know she loves chocolate. I am a bit of a fan of that Guinness with the widget and have also been wrapping a few of those Kilkenny with the widget around my waist lately.

I didn't mind a few of those Youngs Winter Warmers while I lived in the U.K. either.

Really enjoy a good stout, and my grandmother swore by "a bottle a day" philosophy (and you never argued with her :D ).
Used to drink Guinness loads - but then spent time in Ireland and realised what it was supposed to taste like - time has dulled the tastebud memories, so back on it :gui

It started with Guinness and surprise surprise I started drinking that stuff on St Paddy's Day this year. I noticed the Youngs at my local bottle shop a few weeks ago and finally took the plunge. Unfortunately I only bought one bottle with the plan to share it with the wife when she got home from work but somehow the bottle got emptied in about 5 minutes...luckily there were couple of long necks of Guinness in the back of the fridge so shes none the wiser.

That's why the second fridge in the shed is so important - second, secret stash

Being a Kiwi you would be familiar with 'Monteiths' wouldn't you? 'Monteiths black' is the best stout i've had, give it a go if you can find it.

Not bad for a mass produced stout Col but lacks some of the subtle overtones and body of a true stout. But beer is a strange beast and very much a case of what you like, I love a well hopped IPA or ale ( mind you, I love peated malt whisky's too, the more peat the better!) but my partner pulls all sorts of strange faces even after 'trying' a mouthful.

I haven't found a beer I don't like really. As long as it is beer I will drink it.

 That's my stock answer when people ask me if I'd like a beer, then the obligatory "What would you like?" (without telling you which ones they have in their fridge of course! ), my answer usually is "As long as it's brown and wet, I'll drink it."
Although some I do like more like more than others of course :D . Here's a couple of brewers that I'm enjoying at the moment, it helps that they are friends of mine
http://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/golden- ... ery/13377/ Dave's coalface stout is a nice drop but his Big Yank is a winner for me.

http://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/raindog ... -co/13501/ Sean only does a seasonal stout but the Oxymoron IPA is the same colour as a Stout (hence the name) but at 8% it doesn't take too many of them. :dru

I just had a look for those beers, they don't have them in the bottle shop, but I can mail order them at $153 / dozen delivered :( , way to exy for me. I did find this website that has tonnes of boutique beer, $10 delivery, and allows you to select a mixed dozen https://www.beercellar.com.au/.
