well, here (portugal) it´s beginning to suck real bad so i´m beginning to think of alternatives in the eventuality that my wife looses her job (knock on wood). Australia is pretty far away, but i was told the climate in some areas is similar to here, and it appears there is a portuguese comunity around Sydney - might be interesting.
thanks,
miguel.

Re: how´s life in Australia?
I Miguel....Yes I think there would be quite a few places here with climates similar to Portugal. How old are you as this may come into play with regard to immigrating? I dont know much about Portuguese culture but I am sure there are a lot of Portuguese ex-pats here. You should come for a visit to Oz....mqbernardo wrote:well, here (portugal) it´s beginning to suck real bad so i´m beginning to think of alternatives in the eventuality that my wife looses her job (knock on wood). Re: how´s life in Australia?
Hi and thanks for the reply.... immigrating is still a remote possibility, and i don´t think i can convince the wife to go that far away, but Australia is a place that appeals to me somehow. you guys just feel so relaxed and easy going. A friend of mine worked there (at UNSW in SYdney) and liked it a lot. In fact, i think he´s planing to go back and marry his Aussie (is Aussie a good term?) girlfriend.
I´m 36. I wouldn´t have a problem with immigration, though, as i cook a mean risotto... nobody deports a good risotto maker, i was told.
cheers,
miguel.

Hi Miguel,
Have a holiday, take a Look around, visit a few guitar makers and see what you think, and yes" Aussie" is a perfectly acceptable term.
We have a Miguel from Spain on TV http://www.miguelmaestre.com.au/index.php/about who Also cooks a Mean Rissotto and we Kept him so perhaps your right.

Many of us on this forum are immigrants and love to call Australia home.
If you are thinking of immigrating, then get a move on. After 40 it's near on impossible to get in. Employer sponsored immigration will get you in the quickest.
