Markus

To be stupid is like to be dead. Oneself will not be aware of it.
It's only the others who suffer.

Thanks Markus.

I will have to give some of these new blades a try one day soon, and see what everyone's raving about :)

I haven't any Hock blade either, but I'll probably order one if I ever decide to make a wooden plane.

I think these blades are just nicely thick (and reasonably / really flat) A2 blades, available in some sizes and shapes not available from other manufacturers, at least not in that thickness. I was surprised to see that Hock's enterprise has expanded to such a degree that he has outsourced 70% of the production to France. Well, actually not really a surprise if one looks at his own production site / headquarters!

I have been doing a little bit of wooden plane work Markus, I started off making a float for the job over the holidays here. they can be cheaper to buy than make[ approx $50 to $60 each ] but the plane makers of old had to make their own so I thought I'd try it out. I Have two floats now , both made from a file.

I think a float for doing nuts would work as well, Ive just got to cut up another file, and try it. the pain is the noise and the dirty sort of work though .
