When there's no more floor space......

I did not think there would be any more room for more machines in my workshop but a sit down with a beer got the problem solved.

I have just ordered a new 12" disc sander from Carbatec and when it arrives I've got a spot for it, but a I wanted a table jig saw as well. I have had the Makita jigsaw shown for about 30+ years [it just will not die] and when it's switched on the power tries to break your wrist and I need ear muffs on too. So it's best bolted up under a table.

I had just got back from pricing a dedicated jigsaw table set up, and at $300 I thought it cheaper to have a beer and think this through.

The pics show the story, recycled materials of course, it aint pretty, it aint original but it is space saving and rock steady when set up.
I can still use the stepping stool too if needed.

When the table is lifted up completely vertical its easy to change blades. It's used mainly for odd jobs, cutting templates, jigs and moulds.

I need more room too. Much more room. So tomorrow I will make a really BIG beer order... But first I'll have to sit down with a beer to figure out where to stash all the beer I need to create more room.

Good drinking, I mean, thinking. What do you intend using the table jigsaw for? I used to use my jigsaw heaps but then I got a bandsaw and have only used it for really large cutting that doesn't fit on the bandsaw.

Hi Martin T, I have a 16" bandsaw but some jobs cant be got at by sawing in from the outside of the piece, hence the jigsaw. Instrument repairs often need special jigs and aids to get the job done and often changing the bandsaw blade just for a small cut, due to, too a tight radius adds too much time to the job. And I'm happier moving the work than moving the machine so a table is my answer.
I have some pics below of some of the type of jobs I might use this jigsaw table for.

Nice fix Taffy, we can always rely on you for simple but damn effective solutions I notice you've even built in an 'ensuite' bar stool for those long hot afternoons spent cutting piles of timber
It's amazing what problems can be solved with beer! Bugger the G20, maybe the worlds leaders should all have an ale and a yarn down at the local every six months, would be far more productive I'm guessing.
