Tasmanian bushfires

Post by Dennis Leahy » Sat Jan 05, 2013 2:44 pm

I saw the horrific images of the Tasmanian bushfire and just wanted to express my hope that somehow it comes under control before more damage is done or lives lost.

Just got word that one of my mates who is a muso lost his house and a large collection of guitars and amps at Bicheno.

Main thing is he and his family are all OK. What a bastard. He had some lovely Les Pauls.

He's a slide player so I'm just organising to send him a Weissy.

Regards
Bob, Geelong

Glad to hear your mates OK Bob and a grand gesture on your part :cl :gui . I heard on last night's news that at this stage they were only holding fears for one person who was last seen trying to save his house. I can understand the need to want to save your posessions but using a hose pipe or buckets against a bush fire is like pissing into a category 5 hurricane sadly, I just hope he turns up a little smoke blotched but well.

Good to hear from you Dennis. Happy new year & all that.

Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.

A dangerous summer ahead of us. NSW, Victoria and Tasmania have had fires....only a matter of time before South Australia gets its turn. Where I live in the Adelaide Hills people have become very complacent since the last big fires.....something to really worry about.

We have just had several Tassy firefighters up here on the NSW Nth Coast who are riding bikes from Brisbane back to Hobart raising money for cancer research, their phones where goin crazy with TFS trying to get them to report for duty. They felt terrible that they couldnt help, but that happens.

Try and catch up with the guys and girls if they pass your way.
