Search the web....tons of opinions. They seem to fall into two groups: those that have/use them and are convinced they work and those that don't and are convinced they can't possibly work.
It was worth $20 to me to test the idea, so I made mine from an aquarium pump. I feel it definitely works on new builds.

I got one a while ago. Leave it on for 72 hours and it does change the tone markedly. Hard to describe but it is better, more open and colourful. Is this what happens when we play a guitar a lot? Hard for us to objectively analyse a guitar we play every day and say if it changed after 2 months.
Again, hard to say but I got the sense that the affect was lost after a period of not playing and the TR could bring it back up again. Like the guitar needed reminding every now and again what it should do.

How much does using a ROS on your guitar for finishing etc vs hand sanding achieve the same or similar results. I think about it every time I switch on the sander, another session in breaking the guitar in?

Never tried one. But I have been there a couple of times when one of my instruments that I had played a bit before delivery was played hard for about an hour while I was sitting around. And the tone and volume was markedly different after the session.

So, maybe it works. At least one thing is for sure. It's a great marketing idea that is putting a bit of dosh in someones pocket.

I'm with Allen. I also never have tried out such a vibrating device, but if I'll ever give it a try it definitively will be Dave Hurd's "Hula Shaker" (play real music over a small and cheap clipped-on speaker) instead of a sophisticated or non-sophisticated aquarium pump.
