New Rack...
New Rack...
Having now accumulated a number of tops and B/S sets, I thought I ought to figure out a way to store some of them. One set, Tassie Macro, has potato chipped a bit, and I wanted a small press to keep them all flat-ish. I had two criteria. 1. Be able to hang it on the wall, and 2. be able to fit my small stash of 12 tops.....
Using stuff I found under the house, specifically, half a sheet of 12mm ply, some 40x19 NG RW, and a bunch of cedar offcuts, I came up with this..... The stripping is cedar cut into 4x4mm sections, and the box is ply, with the "cage" and trim NG RW.
Holds my little collection at this point. I'll need to make two more. One for backs and one for sides....
My first try loading pix from the iPad, so I don't know if it'll work.....
EDIT: Seems to work. Kinda fun thing, the iPad

Re: New Rack...
Without any doubt this is the nicest top storing device I have seen so far!

Thanks Kim. I pondered over breast augmentation, but decided it would look a bit silly on a 50yo man....
Markus! What did you say? This is not a patch on any of the gear I've seen you turn out! Just needed somewhere to put the stuff now that summer and heat and a bit of humidity are coming. But thank you all the same. As I said, I have two more to make, but then I'll be set....

Re: New Rack...
Now I like the ingenuity of the sticker holder, my kind of container, although it does indicate that the original contents have been drunk
Nice solution Nick & it doubles as a small table at the same time! Clever bastard.

Cheers Nick. Not finished yet. Got it for my B'day last week, and have had a couple fingers, but that's all. Also got a couple other single malts, so I reckon I'm set for the next year.
I DO like a nice single

I'm afraid I too like a single malt (Love the peated Islay malts the best) but I struggle to retain the contents within the bottle, I swear the angels are taking more than their share whenever I look at the levels left in the bottles

Everything in moderation, my friend. I don't have it often, but I like to savour it when I do....

I don't have a similarly nice top storing device. But thanks anyway for your compliments.charangohabsburg wrote:Without any doubt this is the nicest top storing device I have seen so far!![]()

Haha. I can tell you that chances are that you never will be set!nnickusa wrote:As I said, I have two more to make, but then I'll be set....

It's just a matter of how long the intervals between your efforts of sourcing new storage space are.

Thanks, Markus, and I guess you're correct. Just give in and accept that one can never have too much timber on hand, even if one doubts that one will ever use it all in this lifetime....
