New Luthier Magazine: "Sustain"

Post by John Maddison » Fri Oct 26, 2012 5:10 pm

G'day All

I stumbled on a new quarterly magazine the other night via the Uke Orchestra of Great Britain's Facebook page. The magazine is edited by members of the Fellowship of European Luthiers, based in Germany. This first edition is being released FREE as a PDF download (7.85Mb). It contains a diversity of articles covering topics such as violin design principles, guitar finishes, photographing instruments, wiring up electric guitars, neck designs, book reviews, plus a feature article on the UOGB.

Excellent photographs, well-written contributions by various european luthiers, well-drafted graphics, and an easy-on-the-eye layout make for a good read. Future editions will be available as hard copies with a price tag of 59 Euros to Oz, which may put it out of financial reach for the average builder (it would be on a par with the GAL Magazine), but this first edition is well worth a look.

Happy reading!
John M

Some nice stuff in that issue John. Looks like it will be a worthwhile magazine.

Regards.

Thanks for the link. I love a bit of luthier porn, especially when it's free.

The cost is for a one year subscription, or 4 issues, including postage. Works out to $13 and change an issue. Seems pretty OK to me. Advertising is pretty cheap, too. I can't put an advert in my local rag for too much less than they're asking.
I wish I was half the man my dog thinks I am....

Cheers,
Nick
