Steve Roberts build in progress (#16)

Post by steve roberts » Sun Oct 14, 2012 10:10 am

Hi everyone,
Back again! Thought I'd post some photos of my build in progress (guitar #16).
I'm trying something different - my first "live back" and first cutaway. I've had a few problems with bending the cutaway by hand as I don't have a pipe bender so I heated up a piece of pipe with a blow torch and bent the sides around that. I've decided to build a dedicated mould for future cutaways which I think will be a lot easier and a lot more controllable. This latest build is made of Tassie Blackwood with a Spruce top.
Anyway, see what you think!

Nice work Steve!.....it seems that you have those two books everyones talking about!....did you put side mass attachment points in it too? They are very helpful to trim resonances post construction...

Hi John
No, i was not sure about them, but the air and top freqancies are not far off target.
i am playing with different bridge weights to get it spot on at the moment

Good-Oh Steve!...You will find your guitars are much better if you are able to land the 3 main resonances where TG says to in "the book". Mine certainly have improved no end since I started to put the things that I have learned into practice.

Cheers
