So standard braces' stiffness vary by the cube of their height.
CF capped balsa braces' stiffness vary relative to their height. (Thanks Jeff).
Has anyone done any testing for stiffness relationships between CF capped braces and timber braces?
I suppose you would only get an answer for a given CF size/application process. No that that is such a bad thing.

Re: Maths boffin CF/balsa braces.
With CF Capped and also placed between the soundboard and brace you can expect a mass saving of aprox 10% compared to a brace with no CF, the CF needs to be laid this way and not laminated,in order to keep the CF Tow as far from the neutral axis as possible, where it would take very little of the load.
If my ageing memory serves me right, Trevor has a table in one of his books showing sample brace height and species.
