Tour de France/Suisse

Post by Steve » Sun Jul 08, 2012 11:57 am

Hey Markus,
I see that the Tour is heading through Canton de Jura tonight Australian time. Should we be watching out for you? I think that it is only fair that you should pre-warn us if you are intending on running alongside the peloton in only your underwear.

One french f*ckwit waved his flag amidst the 7 man breakaway in last nights stage and came close to copping a black eye from some of the riders. Getting too close to pro riders in a breakaway hauling themselves up a 10% grade is not a good idea.

I only caught the highlights this morning but it sounded like someone was dislodged from their bike by a press vehicle too. As if it wasn't hard enough already.

We were enjoying watching Thor Hushovd killing them on the sprints and almost keeping up in the mountains last year - pity he's dropped out. The sprints are pretty good, but you can't beat the mountains, apart from the scenery & awesome display from the riders - have you ever seen so much spruce?

No, I won't be there and the cyclists will not have to wear an ukulele-proof or charango-proof helmet. Image

The tour passes only about 70 km air distance from where I live, but well, 70 km is a looong distance for Switzerland - so I'll wait until some year they will pass right under my window... Last time this would have been the case in 1982, but back then I did not live where I am living now.

One year is plenty of time to knit some 100% wool underwear.
