But there's still the matter of the orientation marks on the top of the pins......I think we need to have the pins out to see if the slots are indeed orientated correctly.

Wow that's some pretty sloppy work. At first glance it doesn't look too bad, doesn't bear scrutiny tho.

I'd be interested to know who the maker was. For $12k you'd think they'd be able to afford a decent method for putting the fret slots in the right place, and maybe they could spent a few dollars on a pair of glasses, they obviously need new ones.

Perhaps 'persons unknown' cobbled together stuff from the Martin reject skip?
Price you can pay for buying sight unseen.
With the full Martin blessing the prices are 4k and 12k but that instrument is not a signed out Martin.

Its not a martin, I took the builders name of the top, they have a website showing there guitars off, Im encouraging the person to try and get money back first before I go ahead and say who the builder is. If the builder acknowledges theres a problem then all is good, if the builder is not happy to settle with the customer or cannot see any of the issues I raised as being a problem I will happily give there name out.

WE are going to fix it, the level of repair is subject to the customers financial status and what they may get back from the purchase, at the absolute worse case scenario we will refret it correctly and cut a new nut and fit a new bridge plate to correct the pins

This builder has a range of his/her guitars and this is the cream of the crop ""supposedly""

That cannot be a factory guitar though. A factory would make all the fretboards for any given scale length all the same what with templates and CNC files. And the fret slotting guy might have an off day, but on the same day as the guy putting in the frets, and the guy drilling bridge pin holes? QC guy must have been in the bog when this one slipped through. Maybe this one was done on the day after the work xmas party?

Perhaps there is some confusion between "builder" and "marketer". No bona-fide builder would market that under their own name.

Looks like fret end file was lost down the back of the toolbox so he just used his teeth.

No to all the above,

I can and will post more photos later, I will hold off on the manufacturers name in case its as mentioned above, someone was having a bad day, Im all ready in consultation with the builder via email, so hopefully they will come to the party and do right by this customer. In my opinion doing right will be replacement of the guitar.

If they feel that the issues raised are not of concern then name and shame with the other 100plus photos of all the things wrong IMO

Quite simply there is no way "someone" was having a bad day. At least we are clear through to "manufacturer" now.

If it were me, I'd rather get their money back. I'd hate for them to have to go through this all over again with another guitar.
