Yes sorry for the wee hijack.
Does not worry me.

I thought you were having me on for a moment back there. I googled Norton 99 and there it was. Nice
And before that when what I thought was my penny dropping. I thought you must mean the Stanley 99 side rebate. one of my favorite little planes, which I keep in my special Stanley box , so I never misplace that one, or it's 98 sister.
If I can have a little blab about that plane
From what I know of it , which will be wrong in places probably.
That plane is one of the great things that came along with the development of cast iron technology , which had a big leap forward in the US around the time of the civil war . before the 98 and 99 the type of plane that did that job was the beech wooden bodied side snipe, which also came in pairs left and right. The 98 and 99 out do the beech ones in a big way , which is not always the case. there are plenty of old beech moulders, beaders, hollows and rounds and more that do the job as good or better than some of their modern competitors.thats if there is a modern equivalent. { not including electric powered tools }
The only place on a guitar I can think that a 98 or 88 would do well is trimming the sides of a truss rod channel if it was tight. but there is probably cheaper ways of doing that .
