Some not very common instruments

Just for example, one just has to love these...

The high tech music automat:

And its portable counterpart:

-----------------

I first read about the nyckelharp after having seen its pictures from the National Folk Festival 2012 shown here by Peter Coombe and John Buckham "the Woodrat". This is a nice video that impressed me not only because of the beautiful music played but also by the "concert hall" where it was recorded:

The nyckelharp led me to this glass harp recording (you see now the connection to the beer bottle videos above) ...

youtu.be/

...and the glass harp led me to this glass harmonica recording ...

youtu.be/

...which certainly are not at all three new instruments. But they are not common and can sound really beautifully when well performed. :D

Some interesting sounds there! I wondered when I saw Peter's pictures what sort of sound the Nyckelharpa would make.....now I know! Thanks Markus.
I recently bought a DVD of Dave Gilmour touring with his "On an Island" tour & they were performing in Venice. Pre concert Dave was walking through the streets with his wife when he heard a street performer playing the glasses. He got talking to the guy & invited him to play at the show, it unfortunately got 'flooded' out (amazing floods that place has, the square where the concert was to be held was under about a metre of water!) but he returned a month later for another go at the concert & tracked the guy down who promptly performed with Dave by playing the backing chords in the intro to "Shine on you crazy diamond" instead of the normal keyboard pads. Gilmour was so impressed with the whole effect, he kept it in the show for the rest of the tour using his own muso's.
"Jesus Loves You."
Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.
