Yes I used two applications of pumice power, metholated spirits and shellac and from memory it had four, four hours sessions of french polish. One session I usually get around the guitar four times and then level with some 6oo grit sandpaper the next day. What I like about this style of finish is the french polish gives a hardness to the finish once dry and the tru-oil can be applied every twelve months or so and it will always look good.
