Bruce, I don't think I've ever seen a double neck acoustic. Linda Manza? made a guitar with lots of necks but that's it. Also plans for harp guitars are around. What have you got in mind. A 6 and 12 string? No reason why you couldn't draw one out yourself. Got a pic of what you want to build?
Cheers

Interesting idea but, I don't think a double neck acoustic guitar will work unless you tune both necks to the same key and played only in that key and not standard tuning because the open strings would ring on the neck not being played. On the electric models there is a pickup selector so you only hear one set of strings at a time. I guess if you always muted one neck that could work.
My excuse is "I'm new"

Ovation make them. Think Bon Jovi.Seem to work ok. Maybe use one of those mutes that shredders use to stop the ringing out

Thanks

Dom - it is for a friend, my teacher, who wants to make the guitar for himself.
I have no plans to build a dual neck, The challenge of a single neck is enough for me.

Scott - my friend wants a dual neck so he can have two different tunings on the one guitar.
I see Chris Wynne of Thomas Lloyd guitars has made a double neck acoustic, it is on his
web site under custom guitars.

Double necked acoustics aren't a new idea.....they were around as far back as the 1600's.

I haven't seen plans for making one. Joe Veillette sells a double-neck model (6 and 12-string). His webpage gives some specs and has a video of someone doing a pretty good job of playing one.

Even when it comes to designing a double neck acoustic Mike Doolin takes aim at function but winds up scoring a bullseye with style also. He's such a clever builder and like so many of his ideas the Siamese headstock is such an obvious thing to do that you find yourself wondering why you didn't think of it yourself....not much good if you want a 12 string but pretty cool all the same. 8)
