Jim, you might want to drop some small diameter pvc pipe over the threaded rods, as insurance to make sure you never brush a piece up against the threads. Its real easy to do. I did it to wood I was moving around in the shop. Cut some nicely spaced groves into it a neck piece. I was just grateful I hadn't tidied it up yet.

Cheers Lillian, I will do but I reckon I better ask Stu if it is okay to go messing with his go bar deck first. You know how it is, if you touch another mans deck without permission things could get a little uncomfortable.

Right on....decking oil is for pussies. A go bar deck should be french polished.

Edit..... :D

I do apologize for the mix up, but in my defense, it was 4:15 am when I posted and I had barely started my morning cup of tea.

But I do have to tell you that the command, "All hands on deck" keeps playing in my head. I'm starting to think that 5 hours of sleep coupled with internet access isn't necessarily a wise combination.

Nick's right. Inlay first. Then finish.

The rods will come to $89.00, the shipping will be $65.00 for 100 x 3/16th inch diam rods...without postage around Aus (around $8.80 for express post with a parcel size ) to respective people and without end cap bumpers...So it would probably come out to be like 46-55 bucks each including approx 15 bucks postage for satchels/ cardboard to make boxes and post fee. Can you get those end caps from bunnings?

Cost Breakdown
89 (rods) + 15x3 (Aus Post) + 65 (Intl post) = 199/4 (4 people) = 49.75 each (need to find end caps though)
Have a think about it and let me know...The International post is express so like 7-14 days and then about 7-9 days from the time it arrives till the parcels arrive at your doorstep

Hi everyone,
If I can be of any help ? ? ?

I live 2 minutes from Permex in Sydney, where I got my Go Bar Rods (2ft long x 6mm dia.)
The end caps I got from here http://www.grahamrubber.com.au at 15.00 + gst/ 100. Only thing the caps were'nt a tight fit so I had to use abit of Maori ingenuity  & wrap some tape around each Go Bar end, perfect.

If you go to graham rubber home page
left hand side. . .
select - industrial rubber
select - mouldings
there's your go bar tip, item #04001 blk or item #04013 wht

I will do a costing exercise tomorrow and will return in the evening, stay tuned. But if you guys wish to use me, I can't do anything until Monday morning, when I come off shift for a 6 day break.

In the meantime if I have stolen anyone's thunder by interfering that is not my intention and I apologize, I only wish to help out on this forum where I can.
cheers wayne . . .

No worries Lillian, thanks for staying up late and providing me, all be it inadvertently, with a bit of a chuckle.

I wish. I get up at 3:30 to get to work by 5:45. I insist on a morning cup of tea and time with you guys before I leave and join the rat race. This is the best time of the day for me.

Don't use these decks here but just a thought. Would not conduit pipe with a rubber gobstopper either end do the same job?
It doesn't have to be lutherial to do the job.

Ahhh. So that explains your self portrait avatar Lillian - 3:30am and no cup of tea yet...

I knew it struck a particularly familiar cord, though for me its coffee and I'd be waiting a verrrry long time if I wasn't prepared to make it myself...

Yup that's me before my tea.

Used to do the coffee in a big way. Some days I wasn't sure if I was shaking because I had too much or because it was wearing off. Had to quit though. Well I didn't have to quit, but I had a choice between a fist full of pills for the coffee or tea. I opted for tea. I make some great morning tea, even if I do say so myself.

I took up tea drinking when I ditched the cigarettes 2 years ago.
Now I need my cuppa fix anywhere from 6-10 times a day.
The tea box should come with an health & addiction warning.
And directions to the nearest loo!

Do you like gingerbread? My current morning fav is black tea with Celestial Seasonings' Gingerbread. Real cream of course. I'd be happy to make you a cup. Let me know when you're in town.
