Luthier as crime solver

Post by P Bill » Sat Apr 09, 2011 5:13 pm

For those who like a bit of light reading, "The Rainaldi Quartet" and "Paganini's Ghost" by Paul Adam are good choices.

Gianni Castiglione, a luthier in Cremona, is called upon to help police navigate the world of priceless violins, fakes and dodgy dealers.

A fair bit of bench time and some speculation on Stradivari's golden period. Gianni's own golden period " lasted about 1 1/2 weeks a few years ago."

The author has more than a passing grasp of this world, but not a word written about bows. I haven't finished the second one yet, so maybe.
