Lute building (Again)
Lute building (Again)
Hello one and all .As one who has recently joined I greatly admire the ideas and work I see.I started making a Lute 30 years ago ,kids, work ,I am a farmer, put it on hold and am getting back to it.The basis is a 6 course from GAL plans and ideas from British Lute soc Journal on construction by Kottick. The form is different from those I have seen on line in that it resembles a half a lemon or Pear, sliced so each rib is a slice. It makes the mould easier to build but time will tell on the construction,I am using Blackwood and either Swiss Spruce or Sitka for the belly.Unfortunately it has to fit in between "Life" so progress will be fairly slow.Hopefully I will be able to include some pics showing my particular approach to the build. If I get despondent I just look at Kiwigeo's instrument,It would gladden anyones heart!!!! Any queries I will try to fill in Tom .
