A tennant in the building gave me some old trays (The Lord is sooo Gooood!!) that he had received in Africa years ago and there were chunks and bits of ivory inlayed in it so i recuperated all i could and used it on this fretboard that now has a theme so brace up because no 4 now has a name, the "ALIGITTER", i think brother Martin will love the look.
Ok, here goes,

roughed up a bit

It was my first time really inlaying a fretboard so i had to use my dremel tool with a jig of sort to do the job, it worked out pretty well for a firt try

the fretboard has a 16" radius from side to side and (The Lord was really good on this!) found a plank that was curved perfectly by humidity at that radius so i used it to sand the fretboard flush!

Now the fun begins with installing the frets

Not really fancy but it worked, i think i'll take 5 minutes next time and build the little jig

Now i love this part, the brass inserts for the drill press, That John Watkins man, what a great guy!!!!

The first fret was a bit of challenge for the pieces had to be cut very small and with some angles so no fret press cauls, just by knocking them in with a very small hammer.

My fret organizer, this helps a lot

A fret tang nipper, the guy who invented this is a GENIUS!

Pressing the frets in

Cutting the ends

Frets no 2 and no 12 are not pressed in so that i have a place to insert pins for when i will glue the fretboard on the neck, so far so good...

Brought the frets flush with the sides using a rasp

Gives an idea of how it will look when all assembled

I had a lot of fun inlaying this and being inspired to call her ALIGITTER, sort of gives her more personality!

Thanks for watching
