Hi all,
I've got some ugly little chipouts in the spruce on the outside of my rosette.
Before I go and attempt to cut a new fine channel for inserting another line of purfling, and possibly stuffing it up worse, has anyone found a successful material for gap filling spruce under a shellac finish (I'm planning on using Ubeuat Hard Shellac).
(I've had some success using NitroC mixed with the spruce dust under a NitroC finish, but I'm not using it this time)
Thanks

Hi Craig
I once had minor chipout and found by the time it filled with expoxied and finished, you had to look pretty closely to see it.Like yourself I wasn't happy about it, but left it as is.
These days, I shellac the top before routing out the rosette channel. I also insert the rosette with the top at around 3.3mm, so that it's pretty tidy by the time I get to final thickness.
