Weissenborn/Lap Slide Cases
I spotted these cases on Ebay last week so I thought I'd buy a couple to see what they were like.
The price was certainly good enough - $79 per and postage from this mob is $20 regardless of how much you buy from them.
I was surprised because you generally don't find cases for unusual instruments available in Australia.
My initial impression is that they are well made, budget cases. They certainly wouldn't stack up against a Cedar Creek or Ameritage or Hancock case but neither does the price. I don't think they'd be too great if you were a touring muso but for home use or local gigs where you weren't loading you're instruments onto planes regularly they'd probably suit.
They also have OM cases which I've never seen here either.
I've been getting some Rockcase brand cases from my local music shop and they're absolute crap and certainly worse quality than these at a higher price.
You can find them here.

and they're based in Sydney if anyone is local and wants to pick up in person.
Anyway here's some pics.

They look pretty good Bob. Nice faux leather handle. Looks like they have archtop cases for the same prices as well? Fine for keeping at home and occasional transport as you say.

At that price you could even use them to keep instruments safe from bumps and scratches in the workshop once you get to the "in the white" stage.

Bum dust! From the preliminary site squizz, it looks like they only ship within OZ
Maybe an email to them may tell me otherwise. Seems to be a shortage (at least in Christchurch) of guitar cases at the moment, just been trying to get one for the last build, the customer's champing at the bit to take ownership so I've had to get a case that's slightly larger, otherwise it's a 3 month wait for new stock to arrive!

"Jesus Loves You."
Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.

Thanks for that Bob.
I just got on to some Rock Cases for ukes, and they're certainly much better than the CNB's that I was getting before. Though I'd really like to find a source for some top end uke cases that didn't cost more than the instrument itself.

Re: Weissenborn/Lap Slide Cases
I emailed the bloke asking about cases for parlour guitars. He doesn't stock any but asked if I'd like to put them list of things to add to his range.
Seems like he would add to his range of stock if he gets enough interest.
Allen his cases certainly aren't top end but he must be getting them made somewhere in Asia. I'd email him and say "I'd like to get uke cases of this quality and I'd be willing to pay X dollars for them. I'd buy X per year from you and the other uke builders I know would probably buy X amount from you. What can you provide?"
It may be worth a punt because we've never found anyone else in this country that can get decent quality, weird shaped cases for us.
