Hey Kim, that's my first coat, so I got a while to go.
Oh, I guess I should introduce meseff here.
56 years old, built 10 electrics, 1 squareneck, the pic is weiss #3, and #4 is well on its way.
I make lap top gits because i can't play regular git no mo. Arthritis!!!!
I'm struggling mainly with getting wood bindings to come out better.
I did string this one up, and it sounded pretty good.

G'day Alan and welcome as well.

It looks pretty good to me.

Which bracing plans did you follow or is it your own design?

Regards
Bob, Geelong

Thanks fer the welcome Bob.
I've been watching your weiss build.
Looks great!
Anyway, I took the stew mac plans, and loosely based the bracing from that.
Those plans called out for 3/8" x 3/8" for the x.
So I made them 9/16" x 5/16" roughly.
Tapered.
Also eliminated the lower bout brace, and other stuff.
In the pics, the git on the left is the koa one, the right is a maple back and sides.
You can see where I'm changing it around a bit.
The one that's alone in the pic is the koa one.
Setting up my bridge pins while the back isn't on yet.
Sweet!

G'day Alan,

Welcome to our forum Alan. Looking forward to your thoughts on building a weissenborn style guitar. There have been a few posted here all with some changes to the commercial plans that are available and some with completely different bracing ideas. Carbon fibre laminated to spruce braces is now showing up in guitar bracing designs. The humble lap slide guitar is making a comeback into music here in Australia too. I operate my own, small music teaching business that has taken a few years to build up to what it is now. I have two lap slide students now that have been with me for twelve months and recently I lost a young lady slide student who would still be taking lessons only her work has moved her out of town. So there is interest here with the lap slide method of playing guitar. I must admit that I am very passionate about all aspects of these instruments. I love em!!!

Cheers

Alan
